Seven Stories

Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books,  celebrates their 20th birthday in 2025!

Seven Stories is a fantastic museum and visitor centre in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. It’s easy to get there by bus, Metro or car – it’s only 20 minutes drive from Burradon Farm.

Seven Stories is a magical and unique place that showcases children’s books and all that goes into creating them.

Their seven-storey building is a cultural hub within the Ouseburn Valley and access is completely free!

Little readers will love dressing up, crafting and curling up with a book in the cosy reading corners.

Grown-ups will enjoy the exhibitions too – think original illustrations, behind-the-scenes peeks and nostalgic favourites from childhood.

Catch the Magic Faraway Tree: Land of Lost Stories show – a fun, interactive adventure for all ages.

Or join in weekend Adventure by Book performances throughout July and August – all included with entry. Check out their What’s On page for more information.

Don’t miss the lovely attic space – it’s perfect for storytime sessions and has a fab view over the river!

The on-site bookshop is a treasure trove of brilliant reads, lovely gifts and bookish souvenirs for all ages.

Their coffee shop is the perfect place to chill out, grab lunch and enjoy stunning views over the Ouseburn. It’s dog friendly too!

Make a day of it with nearby Ouseburn Farm, the Victoria Tunnel or a riverside walk along the Quayside.

Why not enjoy a magical morning of books, then head home to relax in one of our cosy cottages?
