Dog Friendly Accommodation

At Burradon Farm we’re delighted to offer dog‑friendly holiday cottages in Northumberland, welcoming your dog to enjoy a relaxing countryside break with their humans.

With miles of walks from the doorstep, dog‑friendly beaches just a short drive away, and cosy self‑catering cottages – many with enclosed gardens – our farm is the perfect base for a pet‑friendly getaway near Newcastle upon Tyne.  Whether you’re exploring the coast, discovering local trails or simply unwinding in your cottage, we make sure your four‑legged friend feels just as at home as you do.

To help every guest, two‑legged and four‑legged, enjoy a safe, relaxing break, we’ve put together a few friendly guidelines.

🐶 Cosy spaces for happy pooches

Dogs love having their own comfy spot to curl up in, so we ask that they enjoy their naps on their own bed or blanket rather than on furniture or human beds – please bring along their favourite bed or blanket so they can snooze in comfort.

Closing bedroom doors helps avoid temptation and keeps everyone’s sleeping space fresh.

🌧️ Muddy walks encouraged

Northumberland is perfect for dog walks, beach adventures and woodland exploring, so muddy paws are expected!  Muddy dogs are happy dogs and we love seeing them enjoy the countryside.

After a good adventure, please give your pup a quick rub‑down outdoors so they come in clean and dry.  Forgot a towel?  Just ask and we’ll happily provide one.  There’s also an outdoor hose near the green cycle sheds for sandy paws and post‑beach rinses.

🏖️ Holiday adventures are more fun together

We kindly ask that dogs aren’t left alone in the cottage.   Even the calmest dog can become unsettled in a new place, and we want to keep the site peaceful for everyone.

The good news:  there are miles of walks from the door, dog‑friendly beaches nearby, and plenty of cafés and pubs that welcome wagging tails – so your dog can join every part of your adventure.

🐄 A working farm means extra care around animals

We love dogs, but we also care for livestock – we’re a working farm with cows, horses and other animals on site.

To keep everyone safe, please keep your dog close and pop them on a lead where needed, especially around fields and farm animals.

💩 Poo happens – thank you for picking it up

Please pick up after your dog straight away wherever you are on site and pop it in an outdoor bin (in the alleyway next to reception).

To keep our open grassy areas safe for children, we ask that dogs don’t use these spaces as toilet stops.  In shared gardens, please remove any poo straight away so everyone can enjoy the space.

🌙 Quiet sniffs after dark

Our cottages sit in peaceful courtyard settings so we appreciate your help in keeping late‑night and early‑morning sniffs calm and neighbour‑friendly.

🧹 Keeping your cottage fresh

A hoover is provided to help keep dog hair under control – a quick whizz round keeps things lovely for you and for the next guests.  If extra cleaning is needed after your stay, an additional charge may apply.

💷 Dog stay fee & responsibility

There is a small £25 charge for your dog’s holiday.  All visiting dogs must be fully housetrained and past the chewing stage.  We appreciate you not using our appliances to wash/dry pet bedding.  Any damage must be reported and paid for so we can maintain our high standards across all cottages.

For everyone’s comfort and safety, we’re unable to accept dogs that are legally restricted.

🌿 Cottages with enclosed gardens

Private enclosed gardens: Haselor House, Forge Cottage, Pele Cottage, Rose Cottage

Shared enclosed gardens: Briarhill House, Swallow Cottage, Jacobswell House, Chaff House, Maltpool Cottage, Buttermilk Cottage, Honeysuckle Cottage and the Farm Cottages

Our gardens are enclosed, but every dog is different, so we can’t guarantee they’re completely escape‑proof!

🐾 Thank you!

Your help in keeping Burradon Farm a welcoming, dog‑friendly place to stay in Northumberland is truly appreciated.

Our own dogs, Bess, Skye and Stan, can’t wait to say hello!
